I am so pleased to have the Canadian Foundation for Animal-Assisted Support Services as my first not-for-profit Heritage Makers Consultant. They'll be having a link on their website in the near future that will link to their assigned Heritage Makers site. They are so looking forward to having their network of people capture their stories while at the same time earning some much needed funds for the Foundation.
There are so many amazing organization like the CF4AASS around the world, connecting people with disabilities and other challenges with a variety of animals. From programs that encourage Therapy dogs in Nursing Homes, to seeing eye-dogs with the visually impaired, the applications of animal-assisted support is so varied. I'm looking forward to working with this Foundation and getting to see the stories that emerge.
On a sad note, my little dog Oscar is at the vet right now, having gone through some major surgery today. He'll be there for a few more days and the vet informed me that if this type of blockage happens again, it will most likely be inoperable. I'm realizing just how precious our time is with our animal family members. I love that little dog so much. Hope he's not in too much pain. They promised they would keep him comfortable.
