Mark Anderson, creator of Andertoons is to me, well, a genius.   His cartoons are so witty and clever and I wonder just how he comes up with them day after day.   I have the daily cartoon on the sidebar of my blog but you can subscribe to them too through the website.
You can also purchase books, such as the Tiny Little Book of Cat Cartoons or the Tiny Little Book of Dog Cartoons.   You can also purchase individual drawings.   How cool is that?

If you're an artist or cartoonist, you should definitely think about putting your drawings in a hardcover book, using the Heritage Makers system.  I love illustrating (I illustrated ICAN Press's award winning childrens' book, Three Grin Salad) and I find it really fun to see my creations on posters, cards and in storybooks.   You can either upload the art if created digitally, or scan your artwork into your computer.   And as your personal consultant, I can help guide you through the process!

What dog breeds are best suited for kids?

Oh my.....Talk about a easy going dog!  One of my consultants, Jami, on my Heritage Makers team sent this to me with a warning about leaving kids alone with dogs.  Too funny!  I do admit to putting hair scrunchies on my dog for a innocent chuckle, but haven't yet resorted to such artistry. 
When you're looking to add a dog to your family and if you have children, I found the Dog Breed Info Centre to be very helpful.  They list all of the dog breeds and rate them 1 - 5, with 1 being Excellent with Children and 5 being Not Recommended.   Not sure what scientific techniques they use to determine the capatability of dogs and kids.   I grew up with labradors, Hank, Penny and Nicky and they were fabulous.  Arnold the Airedale...not so much.  He ended up biting a neighbor - the lawyer's wife in the bum.  Not a smart move.

I'm really excited to be a part of the Brandon Scrapbookers Convention coming up next weekend.  I won't be able to be there in person but I have sent along a lot of wonderful information about Heritage Makers.   I'm thrilled knowing that so many Manitobans will be discovering the magic of Storybooking and the incredible products that the company offers.  

Happy for No Reason

I am reading this wonderful book right now that was given to me by a co-worker who won it at the last staff meeting draw.  I'm kind of a junkie when it comes to these kind of books and I think I finally have found the best one so far.  Happy for No Reason is motivating and uplifting.  It gives you the simple tools to find that internal happiness that weathers any external storm....money problems, loss of friends, health challenges...  I love it!
There are two HUGE passions in my life....Working with Seniors and recognizing the love people have for their pets...especially dogs.  Okay - I have three.... Helping people to capture their life stories. (I can have three, can't I?)  I am working towards combining the first two in a project that profiles seniors and their beloved pooches.  I'm hoping to call it "For the Love of Dog".  Catchy, huh?  It's probably been taken but it's a local project so I figure I can name away!

 

 

Got Hamster?

I grew up with little pets of all kinds, including hamsters.  (Hercules, Snert and Cleopatra)  I remember the hamster "castle" I built using paper tubes, cardboard boxes and Plexiglass blocks that were left over from some home-reno project.  Life was good in Hamsterville around our house.

Nadia Vella has put out an excellent book on everything you'd want to know about keeping these loveable little creatures happy and healthy.   The Hamster-Club Guide Book is like having a quick reference manual for everything hamster!   Definitely worth getting.
