Ilike
This book is a wonderful find, with the creator committed to raising both awareness and money for a very good cause.  The website is very inviting and expresses their mission so wholeheartedly.

I LIKE DOGS
is a new children's book about dog adoption.  We follow along with Amanda as she visits a local shelter and unable to choose just one dog becomes a foster mom to all of them.

I LIKE DOGS encourages children to become active in their community helping homeless animals, while teaching how important it is to choose the right dog for the right family.

The dogs and people are brought to life by Emmy award winning graphic artist Carol Hilliard. Her beautiful illustrations are rich in color and substance.  This book will delight readers young and old.
Join the adoption adventure today at www.ilikedogs.org A portion of proceeds will help shelters & rescues nationwide.

Almost Perfect - Disabled Pets & The People who love them

Almost
Many of you know that I am very drawn to books that feature the amazing bond that exists between humans and the animal world.  Almost Perfect - Disabled Pets & The People Who Love Them is a delightful and touching book.   This is a summary from the website:

Almost Perfect
contains essays by eleven contributors from three countries.
Some veteran writers join with several new voices to bring you inspiring, uplifting and thought-provoking stories of domestic pets unlike any you've ever met. Allow yourself to believe once again in the power of the positive as you follow the many ways in which helping and loving "less-than-perfect" critters helps their human counterparts appreciate what it means to be fully alive.

Be sure to check out the Story Excerpts and you'll see why this book is a must have for anyone that has a heart.

Mary Shafer, Editor of this wonderful book also has a Blog, Almost Perfect Pets. Well worth the follow.

Photos without story are memories lost

"Photos without story are memories lost".  These are the wise words of Dr. Sharon Murdoch, Founder of Heritage Makers.  When you look at your photos - whether they're in shoe boxes or sitting there on your computer's hard drive, do you think of the story that goes with that photo?

Don't let your photos fade before you have captured the stories behind them.  That is the Mission of Heritage Makers.  Celebrate your life...your family...your pet...all things that matter to you and those you love.

Maggie: The Dog Who Changed My Life

Maggie
I am very drawn to books on how animals have changed the lives of us humans.   This is a wonderful book and a must have for ones library.  MAGGIE - the dog who changed my life, is written by Dawn Kairns and it is indeed A Story of Love.    This is from the website:

The connection between Maggie and Dawn is powerful. Genuine and beautiful, Maggie's essence opens Dawn’s heart, taking her into unexpected personal and professional directions.
Their relationship opens Dawn's eyes to how intelligent and emotional dogs are; to how they sense our thoughts. A surprising door to intuition and dream communication opens for Dawn through the depth of their bond. Maggie’s radiant spirit becomes interwoven with the fabric of Dawn’s life as the author experiences the joys of sharing life with a dog who so touched people as well as the profound grief that comes with the loss of her canine soul mate.

This beautiful memoir pays tribute to Maggie, a special Labrador retriever; shows the depth of the human-canine bond; and illustrates that animals accept, teach, and love unconditionally.

Dawn's book was recently featured in the The American Dog Magazine as an excellent Bedtime Read.  I'd agree!
Congratulations Dawn on your award winning book and for touching so many lives.

Frankie, The Walk 'n Roll Dog.

Frank
I am so touched by this little dog and the lady who has really made a difference to so many people.  This is from the Joyful Paws website.

The story of Frankie, the Walk ‘N Roll Dog is a true, inspirational story about a dog whose life started out just like any other dog walking on all four paws until a spinal injury leaves her paralyzed. When Frankie is custom fit for a wheelchair she gradually learns to keep on rolling. Her zest for life will have you cheering her on and give you hope that all things are possible.

Frankie’s story touches the hearts of young and old as she teaches us how a challenge can become a stepping stone to something more meaningful. Frankie’s motto is: “Always be positive and keep on rolling!”

You can follow Frankie on Twitter, Facebook and more.  Hats off to Barb Techel (and Frankie too, of course) for all that you do.

The Pet Postcard Project

I am following a wonderful Blog, The Pet Postcard Project, who's motto is Feeding Homeless Dogs one Postcard at a time.  This is from the blog: "Pet Postcards" for this project are homemade postcards featuring your own pets that you make and then snail mail into The Pet Postcard Project. Each card earns 1 pound of food for shelter dogs. So, if you send 10 cards for the cost of a stamp, you have given 10 lbs of food for shelter pets! Plus, it's fun. So far, this project has received thousands of cards -- funny, weird, sad, cute, even more cute, profound, and above all, filled with LOVE for a beloved pet.
Petpost
How wonderful and creative is that?  And what an incredible impact it has had on helping feed thousands and thousands of shelter dogs.   So be sure to check it out and send your postcards in.  I'm working on mine now!   A HUGE hats off to Nikki Moustaki
